Sputum
Quirky science fiction film by multimedia artist Dan Geesin about the grim class struggle in the Sputum world between the ruling Antiques and the subjugated Bakelites.
SPUTUM is set in a dystopian future full of saliva, fungi, and a strange white powder. The Antiques depend on the saliva of the Bakelites to survive a deadly cloud of fungus. Some Bakelites have developed a resistance in their salivary glands to the toxins against which their richer opponents try to protect themselves. However, the Bakelites have no intention of resigning themselves to the rule of the Antiques. They are hatching a revolution and are getting help from an unexpected ally.
For years, British-Dutch artist Dan Geesin worked on this extraordinary epic about the struggle between good and evil. He developed his own sound theory for the film, percussive ambience, based on the rhythm of the human heart. And he devised his own language, a mishmash of English, cockney, Shakespeare, Dutch swear words and colloquial language from Groningen. A radical, experimental film, with underneath all the dust, grit, and saliva an endearing love story.
