ENFANT TERRIBLE follows the life and career of Rainer Werner Fassbinder. The founder of post-war German cinema, who died at the age of 37, led a life full of sex, drugs, radical ideas and heated quarrels. There are few filmmakers who deserve the enfant terrible label more than Fassbinder. His radical views and self-exploitation, as well as his desire for love, have made him one of the most fascinating film directors of our time.

The emphasis in the film is on his period in the 1970s when he was completely obsessed with film and his ambition to become one of the best directors ever. These are the glory years with EFFI BRIEST, DIE EHE DER MARIA BRAUN, TV show BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ and the crown on his work, the Golden Bear of the Berlinale for DIE SEHNSUCHT DER VERONIKA VOSS.

Oskar Roehler, Germany, 2020, 134 min. German spoken, Dutch subtitles. With Oliver Masucci, Hary Prinz, Katja Riemann, Felix Hellmann.
