Best Of Go Short On Tour 2018

International Short Film Festival Nijmegen is the annual highlight for the short film in the Netherlands. More than 300 of the best recent short films from all over Europe are shown at Go Short. After the festival, Go Short goes on tour with a top selection from the program. With, among others, Kiem Holijanda from Dutch filmmaker Sarah Veltmeyer, winner of the Crystal Bear (Berlinale 2018).

Solar Walk
Reka Bucsi / Animation / Denmark / 21’
Solar Walk shows the journey of individuals and their creations on through time and space. Any meaning of action is only existent from the perspective of the individual, but never mandatory when looking at it from the perspective of a solar system. It’s about the melancholy of accepting chaos as beautiful and cosmic.

Black Line
Francesca Scalisi, Mark Olexa / Documentary / Switzerland / 11’
A woman fishing in turbid waters, a suffering nature, the broken chant of the muezzin, all linked by a thin, black line.

Hot Tea
Marcel Tigchelaar / Animation / The Netherlands / 2’
In this drawn animation without dialogue, a man indulges in the vapour of a glass of hot tea. He drifts off to a colourful world where scents seem to be visualised and assume physical powers. Just when the man’s pleasure builds up to a sensual climax, the glass throws a spanner in the works.

JUCK [THRUST]

JUCK is a film which is a hybrid between documentary, dance and fiction. The film depicts the all-female dance group JUCK who made a name for themselves in 2013 with a video that became a viral hit all over the world. The word “JUCK” is Swedish for “HUMP” and their groundbreaking appearance pushed the boundaries for how we are used to seeing the female body. JUCK questions the positions of object and subject. They provoke, inspire and break norms. The film poses the question: what is femininity?
